grub-legacy status?

The grub-legacy package seems to be in a bad shape: bug reports do not
get answered, there are quite a few trivially fixable lintian warnings,
Standards-Version has last been updated in 2009, and the Vcs-* fields
point to a bzr repository which will soon no longer be writable.

Which makes me wonder if anybody tests whether this package actually
still works. Somebody should probably do that occasionally to verify
that a binNMU with a new compiler does not suddenly pull the life
support and break the boot. There is no autopkgtest and debian/rules
deliberately overrides dh_auto_test, apparently because the build-time
tests fail.

I could pick some of the low hanging fruits if the Vcs gets converted to
git, but I don't have a spare system to test grub-legacy.

Cheers,
       Sven
