Hi Axel!

grub2 upstream has received many fixes and enhancements from Oracle
engineers for SPARC such that your issue has most likely been resolved
already.

However, since Debian currently doesn't have a sparc (32-bit) port
anymore, you would have to reinstall your UltraSPARC 10 with
the sparc64 port which can be found in [1].

The grub2 package for sparc64 is currently an unofficial build as
not all necessary patches have been merged by upstream yet, but
we are making good progress on that matter.

A backported patch with all the SPARC-specific fixes can be found
in [2], but so far, Debian's grub2 maintainers have unfortunately
not included my patch yet :(. On top of the SPARC patches, we also
need to build grub2 with TARGET_CCASFLAGS := -fno-PIE on sparc
and sparc64 [3].
