Thank Marco, I missed the previous comment.
The referenced wiki entry is just wrong, a setup as explained in the initial
posting as well as in the previous answer to this bug report is fine with the
EFI specs, works out of the box with linux raid and standard initramfs, so grub
should support this as well. (And probably update the wiki)
