Also, I saw that you backported some upstream fixes using debian/patches. I
intend to update to a new upstream snapshot in order to keep it a bit more up
to date (unfortunately upstream doesn't really seem keen in providing
tarballs).

Right now what I did is to add upstream repository as remote, fetch it in an
upstream/latest branch, manually tag it then merge that tag to the
debian/master branch (the first merge is special because there is no common
ancestry).

Is that a workflow which would suit you? Is there something else you might be
interested in?
