On adding files to my ipod shuffle, then disconnecting . . . . . the
shuufle will not play any tracks . . . . . on reconnecting, i find that
all the added new tracks have been "orphaned"<br>
<br>
I notice the following possible ? explanation on the Amarok helppage .
. . <br>
<br>
"
<blockquote type="cite">
<h2> <span class="mw-headline"
id="Lots_of_orphaned_files.2C_iPod_will_not_play_anything">Lots of
orphaned files, iPod will not play anything</span></h2>
<p>The symptoms of this problem are
</p>
<ul>
<li> iPod will not play any of the newly added files,
</li>
<li> when trying to repair iPod with Amarok, it will show an
orphaned and a stale version of every newly added file.
</li>
</ul>
<p>The most likely reason for this is a version of libgpod that is
incompatible with your Amarok binary.
This happens mainly if your distributor compiled Amarok against libgpod
0.3.2 and later on upgrades libgpod to 0.4.0 without providing an
updated Amarok binary, which is compiled against libgpod 0.4.0.
The solution for this problem is to downgrade libgpod to 0.3.2.
