hdav: InternalIOException <socket: 4>: hPutBuf: illegal operation (handle is closed)

Note that this happens whether I give it the right password or not.
Also, I've had reports of the same failure on other webdav servers.

yoh did some invesitgation and it looks like it might be trying
to send commands like MKCOL to the DAV server without first
authenticating with it.

(Also affects git-annex.)
