I'm adding this tag because I see Adrian has just added version in bookworm
using "found". The package indeed FTBFS in bookworm in reproducible-builds:

However, I rebuilt the whole of bookworm a week ago, using AWS machines
with 2 CPUs, and this package did not fail for me (see attach).

No idea why this happens. If this is a Makefile bug, you might want
to "amplify" the probability of failure by using make 4.4.x:
