This inormation might be outdated. Please take a look at debian/rules in 
the Debian source package so see how the package is built. All you need 
to do is change the location of JAVA_HOME to your JDK installation 
directory and add --with-jni to to configure options.

Please see README.Debian why the Debian package is not built with JNI 
support.
