 `Provides' field, invalid package name `j2re${j2se_release}': character
`$' not allowed - only letters, digits and -+._ allowed
dh_builddeb: command returned error code 512

Aborted (--destdir=/tmp/make-jpkg.XXXX5hAbp6).

Maybe its an issue with the debian build tools version if the above
works for you?
