Hi,

# /etc/init.d/tomcat4 stop
I instaled jikes.
I commented out the above line.
# /etc/init.d/tomcat4 start
# ps aux|grep tomcat4
   ... /usr/lib/kaffe/pthreads/jre/bin/kaffe-bin -Djava ...
[Is kafee used in this case too??]
I renamed the test page (in order to be recompiled) and looked at it 
with a browser => the server is down, as in the other case.
