When I tried to use "forrest run", it built the webapp fine, but jetty
threw a ClassDefNotFoundError for

It turned out that build/webapp/WEB-INF/logkit.jar didn't contain that
class, nor does the version in /usr/share/java. So I downloaded logkit
from Apache's website and it works fine.

So this might not really be your problem (if you take logkit.jar from
/usr/share/java when building forrest, for example), it can just be a
bit distressing...
