That is certainly an option to pursue, but the Blackdown release is also
supposedly packaged for Debian already on the Blackdown mirrors.
Neither of the North American mirrors seems to be updated, nor does
yours.  Is this mirror staleness characteristic of Blackdown?

Assuming the mirrors were up-to-date, we could simply add the
appropriate mirror to our /etc/apt/sources.list and be able to install
it.  If they are indefinitely delayed, then I would certainly view
adding PowerPC Blackdown support to java-package as an important
wishlist item, since we have no other viable alternative other than
working on IBM JDK support to give us a fully-developed JDK/JRE.
