I tried using make-jpkg to build a debain package for the latest JRE under
beatrix and found it couldn't handle the current release so I added this tidbit
into /usr/share/java-package/sun-j2re.sh
        "jre-1_5_0_"[0-9][0-9]"-linux-i586.bin")
            j2se_version="1.5.0+${archive_name:11:2}"
            j2se_expected_min_size=81 # 83267 kB
            found=true
            ;;
The package currently being offered on SUN's site for linux for the runtime
environment is:  jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586.bin
I didn't try installing the j2sdk so it's likely the
/usr/share/java-package/sun-j2sdk.sh file will need a similar edit.
Hopefully this will get into the package and released so less experienced users
can install java with a lot less pain than I went through..
