I don't know if it is possible to build on ppc - I thougth you have
a non-free jdk installed ? At least the last uploads of fop/batik
are from you.
Maybe you have to adjust the JAVA_HOME_DIRS variable in debian/rules
to include your ppc non-free 1.4 jdk - but more should not be needed.
But if you have no longer a 1.4 non-free jdk available please drop
a note so any other DD from pkg-java maintainers can sponsor me.

I uploaded the whole batik stuff and the new .dsc .diff.gz file for
fop (no new upstream) to:
http://www.home.uos.de/wbaer/downloads/
Regardless of who will sponsor this uploads be aware that fop needs
the jimi-1.0.jar in /usr/local/ for building (see debian/rules).
