No. See below.

The page http://packges.debian.org/eclipse is outdated. It will
hopefully be okay when Eclipse 3.1.2-2 is completely build.
Eclipse for Debian and Ubuntu is build from the same source deb.
The is no reason for differences. The real build status can be seen on:
http://people.debian.org/~igloo/status.php?packages=eclipse
I know powerpc works in debian too as I use it on one of my machines.
ia64 shoudl work now too but there is some dependency problem with java
runtimes (nothing Eclipse can solve alone). And we are workong on other
ports like hppa, sparc and s390.

I close this bug now as it is not really a bug, just a question.
