I saw that too. Clint told me during DebConf7 that for highly threaded
applications it's better to use fakeroot-tcp. (It's also documented in
/usr/share/doc/fakeroot/README.)

If I recall correcly, the compilation stalls because some msgrcv* calls
seem to deadlock, somehow. Providing a backtrace for this has been on
my TODO list for a while.
