How to pack Java libraries/applications correctly?

http://pkg-java.alioth.debian.org/ and the Hints link.
check http://wiki.debian.org/ and search for java (don't expect wonders 
here).

Java packages are not really different from normal one, once you've 
learned the Java policy.

You could have a look at simplyhtml (application) and libjibx-java 
(lib), I packaged them rather recently so I possibly didn't make the 
same errors as when I started :-)

I don't know if my packages are top quality, but they're coming through 
ftp-master...
