The pom.xml specifies Java source and target version 1.4, but we already have 1.5 in stable and 1.6 in testing.
I noticed it because Eclipse warns me that javax.xml.stream is kind of access restricted. Updating the java version to 1.6 in the pom.xml and rebuilding in Eclipse fixed this.
