Hello Nicolas,

Thank you for the bug report.  Having the init script behave independently of
the seems like a perfectly reasonable expectation.  :)

One thing I'm slightly concerned about is whether there are users who currently
(inadvertently) depend on the current broken behavior.  For the time being, I
propose making the change and uploading to unstable.  Comments from other users
are welcome.
