Bug#891956: after reinstall of libequinox-osgi-java, still get ClassNotFoundException: org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter

I reinstalled libequinox-osgi-java as described in message #27 but still get the same error:

This has been happening since upgrading to openjdk-8-jdk:i386       version          8u162-b12-1 
and the same error happens even if eclipse and libequinox-osgi-java are purged and reinstalled.
