Thank you for the report Ivo. For some reason the injection of the
gradle-debian-helper hook into the classpath by altering the
bootclasspath doesn't work on the builders because Gradle spawns a
daemon despite being instructed not to do so (the --no-daemon parameter
is specified when gradle is invoked). This doesn't happen when building
the package from the command line.
