Is that Kotlin-packaging work tracked in the BTS or elsewhere?  If so,
can you link this bug reprot to that work, so that it's clear this is
being blocked by that delay?

There are some nice features in the 1.7 branch that i would really love
to have in debian!

I'm glad for that.   Thanks for keeping debian current on the branches
