Thanks, makes sense. I’ve forwarded this upstream, given the unique
situation of openjdk-8 in the archive it should be fine if they fix
that with the next release in October; if they won’t, I’ll patch it
locally or look what Doko does to 11/17/21.

In traditional syntax ' is ignored, but in c99 everything between two ' is
handled as character constant.  Therefore you cannot use ' in a preproces-
sing file in c99 mode.	-- Ragge
No faith left in ISO C99, undefined behaviour, etc.
