Hmm, I can't reproduce it either on my other amd64 machine.  On the machine 
where it does fail, I tried setting the default timeout to 600 in test.py and 
it did build then.  The array-length test looks like it takes slightly over 2 
minutes of CPU time.  Which is odd since the machine it fails on is 2100 MHz, 
and the machine it succeeds on is 2800 MHz; and the 2100 MHz machine is newer.
