That's a good question. I have been made aware of this redirector by
Jonas when packaging jquery-lazyload [0].
If Github were to make a change in the way they publish tags/tarballs,
using this redirector that is controlled by Debian would mean all
Github-hosted projects could be fixed at once, instead of having to
update all Debian packages one by one.

But again, this is only a suggestion. Feel free to ignore it.
The only comment that requires serious thoughts is the repackaging
(see my following email)
