Great that you wanna help!

If you haven't already, then please a) subscribe to this mailinglist and 
(create an Alioth account and) request membership of our Alioth team.

(I cc'ed you in this response, but the normal mailinglist posting style 
in Debian is to not cc sender unless explicitly requested, so don't rely 
on that!)

You ask if others want to join your effort, but please note that D3 is 
already packaged for Debian: Bugreport #801765 is about _extending_ the 
existing source package to produce an additional binary package targeted 
nodejs, in addition to the current binary package for browser use.

Therefore a good starting point is to look at the existing source 
packag: If maintained by others than this team then get in touch with 
then and ask how more concretely they might need your help in solving 
the bug (or go ahead and create a patch and add that to the bugreport, 
and _then_ ask them if they wanna apply it themselves.  If maintained by 
this team then look who is listed as uploaders, and who in fact has 
uploaded the most recent changes to the package - and try get in touch 
with those explicitly to figure out if they are perhaps working on this 
already.
