This is what I have:
paul at testavoira ~ $ ll
/usr/share/javascript/jquery-ui/css/smoothness/jquery-ui.min.css
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32021 dec  8 08:59
/usr/share/javascript/jquery-ui/css/smoothness/jquery-ui.min.css

I don't see the problem, unless something really is looking for
ui.min.css. But that wasn't even there in the old package as far as I
can tell.

Yes, the default theme and the file layout upstream changed. But I added
a convenience symlink from css/smoothness to themes/base so this should
work.
