It uses npm packages for building as the build dependencies are not
packaged.

I'm hoping to move this to main when its build dependencies are
packaged. Since its build dependencies have a circular dependency on
rollup, having it in contrib helps in packaging those. So contrib is an
intermediary step to uploading to main.

You can see the status of babel-cli, which is a build dependency of
rollup at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=842222

I'm looking for help to complete node-babel-cli. See
