On sid with node-node-uuid 1.4-7-1 I did:

cd /usr/lib/nodejs/node-uuid/
sudo rm index.js
sudo ln -s ../../../share/javascript/node-uuid/uuid.js index.js
cd
npm2deb search monocle

and it worked.

BTW, this bug is probably a duplicate of 887069
