Oh ! My mistake, I was remembering how old cpu were discarded,
but the current i386 arch is supported all right !
(i have a bit of a headache today).
If you have an issue building a c++ addon, it's something with your
setup, as currently several addons are available and built in debian
(e.g. https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=node-iconv)
