Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the mathjax package.

The package description is:
MathJax was designed with the goal of consolidating the recent advances
in web technologies into a single, definitive, math-on-the-web platform
supporting the major browsers and operating systems.
 .
It requires no setup on the part of the user (no plugins to download or
software to install), so the page author can write web documents that include
mathematics and be confident that users will be able to view it naturally
and easily. Simply include MathJax and some mathematics in a web page, and
 MathJax will do the rest.

Upstream has released MathJax 3.0 last year which is a complete rewrite from
the ground up:

http://docs.mathjax.org/en/latest/upgrading/whats-new-3.0.html

It is now written using ES 6 modules and the Typescript language.
The source code (and tags to get tarballs from) are available here:

https://github.com/mathjax/MathJax-src

I am looking for someone who knows the JS, node and TS ecosystem better than
me, and can package the new version.

After a brief look at upstream's package.json, I see some dev dependencies
that are not yet in Debian (copyfiles, typescript-tools, webpack-cli) and
some that are outdated in Debian. I don't know whether these dependencies
are necessary or optional.

The Git repository is here (currently it contains only debian directory, but
that may be easily changed):

https://salsa.debian.org/js-team/mathjax

I will be happy to sponsor any uploads if needed.
