I created a merge request on salsa to fix it:
https://salsa.debian.org/js-team/node-mathjax-full/-/merge_requests/1

It is based on an upstream commit, but unfortunately the upstream author
mixed the fix and reformatting the whole file in the same commit, so I had
to extract the relevant pieces from there.
