While I didn’t merge it as-is (I was already addressing the version
difference elsehow) it showed me what I was missing (one line…), and
I’ve committed that with your explanation and attribution.

I had to fix some more things to be able to verify the build, but
these had more to do with npm 14 landing in sid. My preliminary builds
look good, but before I can release I need sleep, and tomorrow will
be busy elsehow, but I expect to upload the fix to sid by the weekend.
