No objections here.  FTP masters might need convincing though.
I suggest filing an ITP bug (with 'X-Debbugs-CC:
debian-devel at lists.debian.org' pseudo-header) and seeing what the
response is.

That could work, then module packages could recommend julia instead of
depending on it.
