Package: kbd
Version: 1.12-14

I have migrated from console-tools to kbd recently. There seems to
be a compatibility issue.

When trying to set Thai console font for 8-bit applications using
  setfont tis-phaisarn.f16 -m tis620
command, I got this error:
  mapscrn: cannot open map file _tis620_

In mapscrn.c, this line indicates that the
/usr/share/consoletrans/tis620.acm.gz file from console-data 20060609
won't be searched for:
  static char *mapsuffixes[] = { "", ".trans", "_to_uni.trans", 0 };

By copying tis620.acm.gz to tis620_to_uni.trans.gz, it just works.

So, I wonder whether kbd should also look for the ".acm" files
for backward compatibility, or console-data should also provide the
".trans" version of existing ".acm" files.

Feel free to reassign this bug to console-data if it's the case.
