Hi Holger,

I can confirm your problem.  I've chatted  upstream,
and Gilles suspects imlib2.

The problem is fixed in 0.9-svn, that, e.g., does not
use imlib2 anymore.   Gilles does not plan
to touch this part of the 0.8.* code anymore :(

Before end of July 0.9-beta1 will find it's way into debian's
experimental archive.
