Upgrading libsm6 to 1:1.0.1-3 doesn't solve the problem for me. As
already noted in an earlier post to this bug report, the problem is an
already running instance of kaffeine which was started by the kde
session manager (e.g. here on my laptop:

ps aux | grep kaffeine
michael  18919  0.0  2.3  34188 12176 ?        S    23:03   0:00
kaffeine -session 10df6c7574000115999232100000028580017_1159995759_837602

)

Only killing this process and running kaffeine again helps and adding
kaffeine to the session manager blacklist in
kcontrol -> KDE Components -> Session Manager -> Advanced (Applications
to be excluded from sessions)

Cheers,
Michael
