This suprises me. Which dependencies in particular are you awaiting?
According to http://packages.debian.org/unstable/graphics/digikam all
dependencies are currently available. Note that digikamimageplugins is now
depreciated as those plugins are now included in the main digikam package..

I'll look into creating a digikam-dbg package which we can use for these
situations.
