Well, I don't know. As far as I'm concerned, fixing the bug is easy. You just 
need to call setInputMethodEnabled(true) in the constructor of 
whats-the-table-widget-name, and handle imXxxEvent by passing them to a 
(newly created) cell's edit box.

However, I'm not completely sure about it. The documentation says you have to 
call setInputMethodEnabled in widgets that handle text input for input 
methods to work, but there are many programs like Tora that do not. I have 
submitted a bug report about this, which might shed some light on the 
problem, but nobody answered (Bug #448005).
