thanks
Hello Francesco:
Thank you very much for reporting this bug. We would need a definite
confirmation but it's quite likely that the problem is as Kai explained: new
dpkg versions fixed a bug that in turn uncovered a bug in the kvirc-data
package we, unfortunately, overlooked for Lenny.
The final check would be installing sid version 4:4.0.0~svn3240-1 which we
think solves the problem. So we will consider this bug is fixed in sid, but we
will keep it open because of it implications. Due to this, kvirc can't be
installed on testing. The natural solution for this would be waiting for some
days tilll sid version reaches testing, but unluckily the transition is being
locked by krb5 package right now.
We will research how to soothe this, since there are methods to address the
issue, like testing-proposed-updates queue. Problem with this kind of methods
is that they are quite intrusive as regards to the Debian natural package
processing and should be done very carefully and counting with some people
like Release Manager that is usually very busy doing more important stuff.
To sum up: bug should be fixed in sid (or report otherwise), we consider this
fixed as well, due to its severity we will look if a temporary solution for
testing is possible. Sorry for the inconveniences.
Regards,
