Mark,

I've been trying to do the same here, but with instantclient 11.1. I
have managed to build and "make install" it just fine, but
dpkg-buildpackage gives me errors.

Could you send me your patches so that I can apply them here (and help
test them)?

Is there a bug report for this already?
