Since some time gnome-packagekit ships an update-notifier binary
package. Please remove the update-notifier source package.

We might later introduce a new sort of update-notifier package
based on PackageKit for desktops other than GNOME 3 and not using
Qt (that is, for which GNOME PackageKit and Apper do not work
reasonably).

You should remove kingston-update-notifier too, as it depends
on update-notifier-common and has not seen an update since 2011. The
KDE people have a suitable alternative in apper and are working on
getting qapt/muon working I heard.
