Package: k3b
Version: 2.0.3a-2+b2
Followup-For: Bug #830167
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
- Inserted DVD to be ripped.
- Started K3b.
- Clicked on the "Tools" menu, then "Rip Video DVD".
- Got a pop-up dialog that says "K3b uses transcode to rip Video DVDs.
Please make sure it is installed."
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
- Ran "sudo aptitude install transcode". Wasn't found.
- Ran "sudo aptitude search transcode". Wasn't found.
- Did a google for "debian transcode" and similar other googles. Apparently
the package has been dropped.
- Googled for a Debian replacement for transcode.
- Ran "sudo aptitude update" and "sudo aptitude dist-upgrade" (with
unstable, testing, and stable lines in my sources.list fil
e, in that order, top to bottom).
* What was the outcome of this action?
- Transcode was not installed, and K3b still can not rip DVDs.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
- To install transcode, and/or to get a newer version of K3b that no longer
requires transcode.
