OK, I got this working using this patch:<br><a href="https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/104330/diff/?expand=1">https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/104330/diff/?expand=1</a><br><br><br>The trick was that I had to use the GStreamer Phonon backend instead of the VLC Phonon backend.  <br>
Once I did that,  and applied the above patch, the Spectrum Analyzer now works.<br><br>
