[Pkg-kde-talk] naming schemes for kde eyecandy related packages (widget styles, themes, window decorations, icons and ....)

Hi!



In my control center under appearance and themes, there are some different 
ways to change the look and feel of your kde. In all those categories, you 
can change different parts of the kde, like colorschemes, splash screens, 
window decorations, styles and many more. These are all _different_ things.

Right now in debian, we have:
kwin-baghira, which contains color schemes, widget styles, window decorations 
and maybe other things too.
kde-style-lipstik which is a widget style and perhaps some color schemes too.
kde-icons-[several different] with icons.

as of now, there are no pure window decoration packages and no splash 
screen-packages.

I am considering packaging some window decorations - and as they are pure 
window decorations (not combined with a style yet).

I am told that it has been decided that they should be called 
"kwin-style-something" - as also effected thru ITP  #329117.

I think kwin-style-something is a bad name for window decorations, as they are 
not _styles_ in the kde meaning of the word.
And the poster of #329117 started naming his ITP kwin-decor-something.
There are also many ITPs with kwin-style-something. they are all (except 
#329117) packages with widget styles - not packages with window decorations. 
(ITP #286202 #286203 #286204 #286205 #286207 #286209 #286211 #286212 #286214 
#286216 #286206 (all these are almost a year old))

so using the word _style_ for something that is not a style is IMO not a good 
decision - and as long as we do not yet have any packages in debian following 
that naming scheme, we still are easy able to reconsider and do it better.

kwin-deco-something have been used for some itps.
kde-windeco-something could also be used to make sure that it is a 
kde-thingie.
or anything else not containing the word 'style'


And what about splash screens ?
the splash screen thingie are packaged as ksplash.
There is an ITP for an alternate kde splash engine, moodin, #329690, which 
uses a different type of splash screens. This ITP suggest the name for the 
engine 'ksplash-engine-moodin'
ksplash-ENGINENAME-theme-something
kde-splash-ENGINE-something
ksplash-theme-something - which is used on kde-look.org for some splashes for 
standard engine

any better ?

please choose a naming scheme for splash screens
