Yes  -  there should.  (and it is unfortunately not 'forward' compatible 
either - so it is choose which one to be compatible with - if I have 
understood it correctly.



It is the internal compability level between kontact and plugins that has been 
changed. In kde3.5.5 it was 4, in kde3.5.6 they had added a couple of extra 
functions, so the change is not backwards incompatible - but kontact does not 
seem to know that. It is either level 4 (compatible with 3.5.5) or level 5 
(compatible with 3.5.6)
