i was confused by this because I am actually a long-time Mepis user
(my initial kernel on the main machine was linux-image-2.6.22-1-mepis-smp),
and it seems it has other defaults / or so was normal behaviour of apt-get in that days.

should I somehow communicate my changes to ubuntu?
or they are on their own?
