This is quite useful piece of information! This would keep us sane... well at
least we are not on crack with the underlying libburnia libraries :)

Interesting. Now there is something I don't really get: You were using
libisofs plugin to talk to the growisofs plugin engaging growisofs as burner
application. But to my best knowledge growisofs is only able to burn on DVDs?
Could this explain a possible growisofs failure when faced with the task to
burn non-DVDs? I'd expected growisofs to be tested with DVDs and to succeed
indeed.
Btw, any log messages like this one:

or any printf's on the terminal you have started brasero on?

It is expected. You can also see 'dpkg-source: info:' messages at the
begining, saying that unapplied patches listed in 'series' are being applied.
