It's just that 7.0 was released like half a year ago. Also in sid, qemu currently conflicts with libvirt, because libvirt is not recent enough. Not even experimental has any newer versions. I don't mean to belittle the maintainers or anything, I'd just like to get an understanding of what goes into the decision of when to package a new version. I'm sure it's more elaborate than me just cloning the repo and compiling it in like 20 mins...
