I tried to install Windows XP Pro SP3 (french) with Virt-manager with success 
under the following modes : 
- Generic (but without -localtime it will cause time problem if the host 
system uses UTC time)
- Windows XP (with -no-acpi)
- Windows Server 2003 (without -no-acpi)

I doesn't found any problem with ACPI activated on the Windows XP KVM virtual 
host...
